Alleviating Hunger
Alleviating Hunger and Illness
In Kerala, hunger and malnourishment are seen almost exclusively amongst the Hindu population. Impoverished members of the Hindu community also lack access to quality medical care. Unlike other religious groups, they receive little foreign aid or from other Hindus
In response to this issue, Hindu Seva Kendram has launched the following initiatives:
- Aims to bridge the unequal access to quality health care experienced by the underprivileged. Due to their lack of finances and social support, many Hindus are unable to afford proper healthcare and treatment for severe illnesses like cancer, kidney failure, etc.
- In response to this, Hindu Seva Kendram has launched the Sanjeevani initiative in order to provide free medication and consultation to poor Hindus. Terminally ill patients receive higher priority in receiving aid.
- More than 500 Hindu doctors have volunteered to provide free consultation for underprivileged Hindus. Medications are obtained from donations.
