Young Hindu girl Commits Suicide.

Vishnupriya – Yes the name will not resonate much among Hindus because Hindu lives donot matter to the government or the media in this country. She was a resident of Chettikulangara in Alappuzha District in Gods Own Country (????) 

She supported her disabled parents and younger brother by selling Unniyappams (Original Malayali Sweet meat) on the local streets for many years. Due to some crisis in the family she committed suicide by drowning herself in the local temple pond. Her cremation is happening as we write this with a heavy heart. 

We met the family and have committed to support the family’s basic necessities and the future education of her brother. We feel that this is next best thing to do in the name of our eternal Dharma. Many well wishers have come forward to offer their support to the family and we are grateful to them in the name of our Dharma.

This brings up an important question. Why couldn’t the Hindu fraternity save this girl from at least committing suicide, while she had hung on fearlessly for years. All the poojas, bhajans and satsangs in temples and ashrams should ideally culminate into this. 

In a way we are responsible for her death and we should all feel ashamed of it and act now to prevent such acts in our Hindu Samaj. To quote Albert Einstein here, a society is destroyed by the inaction of good people and not because of the actions of bad people. Lets all come out of inaction and act to ensure the prosperity of our beautiful dharma and its followers. 

We offer our heartfelt condolences and pray for the sadgati of the young soul.
